THE DAY-TO-DAY DETAILS

Clerk of
the works

On-site observation and documentation focused on the work as it happens. We flag visible concerns, track progress, and give owners a clearer record of site conditions and items needing attention.

  • Site observations and photographic records
  • Progress and visible workmanship reporting
  • Issues tracked against plans and specifications
  • Punch-list and follow-up documentation
Talk about site oversight

Engagement scope and site-visit frequency are agreed for each project. Owner-side oversight does not replace the contractor’s responsibility for means, methods, site safety, or the design professionals’ duties. [CONFIRM: final service scope and engagement terms]

BEFORE WE TALK

A few good
questions.

What’s the difference between the two services?

Owner’s representation takes a broader view of the project, including budget, schedule, coordination, and owner decisions. A clerk of the works focuses on on-site observation, progress, and documentation. The right engagement can include elements of both.

When should I bring in an owner’s representative?

Ideally before major commitments are made, when scope, budget, and team decisions are still taking shape. If construction is already underway, we can discuss where independent oversight could help now.

Where do you provide construction oversight?

We work across New England. Share your project location so we can discuss the appropriate level of site involvement. Site presence and travel arrangements are agreed for each engagement.

Do you replace my contractor or architect?

No. We work on the owner’s side. Your contractor and design professionals retain their own responsibilities. The engagement agreement defines the limits of our observations, reviews, and advice.

10 / LET’S TALK

Good projects start
with a conversation.

Tell us what you’re planning—or what’s keeping you up at night. We’ll talk through where owner-side oversight could help.
